On September 1, 2022 a hungry wolf used the cover of darkness to sneak into a well-guarded
compound in northwest Germany and kill Dolly, the 30-year-old pony belonging to
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Identified as GW950m, the wolf was put on a kill list. The death warrant on its head expired on January 31.
Did he manage to outplay the hunters?
Yes, he made it!
But, the countdown may restart soon …
While he escaped this time, a new shooting permit against GW950m has already been applied for, a spokesperson for the Hannover region said on Tuesday, January 31. The request for him to be re-added to the kill list must first be examined in detail in an entirely new procedure.
More on that here.
